A BA and graduate work in German, several trips to Europe, three years in international mutual funds, then five years of teaching - there's a good foundation for a career in photography! I first started my studio business in 1978. Initially, I shared studios and trained in studio and location lighting technique with commercial photographer Wm J. Murray III. I've maintained a studio presence in the South Lake Union area of Seattle for the past 25 years where I specialize in portraiture, three-dimensional art documentation and commercial projects. Having worked extensively in small, medium, and large format transparency and black-and-white film, I now do most of my work in a digital format.

My big brother had barely turned ten when he bought an Ansco box camera. I liked the idea so much that I emptied one of Dad's cigar boxes, poked a hole in the lid, plopped in two light bulbs and giddily began "making images", long before I even heard of conceptual art. Those photos rank among my best work to this day.
